Membership Agreement & Risk Acknowledgement
(Please Read Carefully Before Participating in Any Martial Arts or Fitness Programme)
Acknowledgement of Risk
I understand that Mixed Martial Arts and related disciplines are physical contact sports that carry inherent risks, including the potential for serious personal injury.
By participating in any training or activity at New Wave Academy Penge, including but not limited to:
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Boxing, Grappling, Wrestling, Judo, Personal Fitness Training, Strength & Conditioning, and Yoga
,
I acknowledge and accept the risks associated with physical training and sparring.
I understand that injuries may occur due to the nature of the activities, and that these risks may be increased by my own actions, the actions of others, the environment, or equipment used during training.
I accept full responsibility for my participation and agree that I, not New Wave Academy Penge, its owners, staff, or affiliates, am responsible for my own safety.
Waiver of Liability
In consideration of being allowed to participate in any training, class, seminar or event at New Wave Academy Penge, I hereby waive, release and discharge any and all claims for damages or liability I may have against:
• New Wave Academy
• Its instructors, owners, agents, and representatives
• Facility owners and managers
• Other participants
This waiver applies to injuries sustained before, during or after participation in any activity held by or at New Wave Academy Penge, whether caused by negligence or otherwise.
I also waive all rights on behalf of my heirs, executors, administrators, and assigns.
Insurance
All members are required to pay a £20 annual insurance fee, which provides member-to-member coverage through the UKBJJA.
While martial arts carries an assumed risk, this insurance offers legal protection in cases of severe negligence or criminal behaviour by one member towards another.

Photography & Video Release
From time to time, staff at New Wave Academy Penge may take photos or videos during classes for use in promotional material on social media platforms (e.g., Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, TikTok).
By participating, I grant New Wave Academy permission to use my image, voice, or likeness in these recordings, with no expectation of compensation.
All content will remain appropriate and relevant.
Note for Parents and Students: If you are capturing your own photos or videos, please ensure they feature only yourself or your child. If others appear, please obtain their permission before sharing publicly.
Membership Terms & Conditions
This membership agreement is made between the undersigned member and New Wave Academy Penge. By enrolling, you agree to the following terms:
1. Minimum Term: Memberships have a minimum 3-month commitment from the date of sign-up.
2. Cancellations: You may cancel by giving at least 1 full month’s written notice.
3. Payment Terms: Membership fees are payable weekly or monthly, on the due date.
4. Payment Methods: Accepted methods include direct debit, bank transfer, debit card, or cash (as agreed). Any changes must be confirmed in writing.
5. Access: Members have access to New Wave Academy Penge during normal operating hours.
6. Conduct: Membership may be terminated due to misconduct or breach of terms.
7. Policy Updates: New Wave Academy Penge reserves the right to modify membership terms with reasonable notice.
8. Refunds: No refunds will be given for early cancellations or unused time within prepaid membership terms (monthly, half-yearly, or annual).
Declaration
By becoming a member of New Wave Academy Penge, I confirm that:
• I have read and understood this document
• I accept the risks involved in martial arts training
• I agree to abide by the terms outlined above
• I release New Wave Academy and associated parties from liability
• I consent to the use of my image for promotional purposes as stated
